Jolly Foresters Urban Forest Club

Bringing a love of the outdoors to all children
Find Out More

We Have fun In Nature

At Jolly Foresters, our activities focus on fun and the process of learning rather than the end product.

From climbing trees to toasting marshmallows, we encourage our Jolly Foresters to be in and engage with the great outdoors. Mud puddles, dirty feet, and happy hearts are what we’re all about

What to expect

It is our aim to bring a love of the outdoors to all children who attend. We offer different clubs and sessions to suit your child’s age. As nature evolves so do our activities, no two days are the same at Jolly Foresters but you can expect your children to meet new friends and partake in activities and adventures such as:

– bush arts and crafts,
– outdoor cooking in our mud kitchen,
– nature based potion mixing,
– climbing trees in the woods,
– peeling and whittling
– Picnics in the forest

Meet our chief Jolly Forester, Leanne

Growing up in South Africa where outdoor life is the norm and having worked in Early Years Education for over 15 years, I am passionate about bringing a love for the outdoors to children. I am a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader as well as a hands-on Early Years Head Teacher. I work with a team of outdoor educators who share my passion for the outdoors and we look forward to welcoming your children to Jolly Foresters.

HEAR FROM OUR JOLLY FORESTERS

My daughter loves the forest school and has been attending now whatever the season for nearly 2 years. It never feels like I am packing her off to childcare and she is always very excited to go. She comes home muddy having had a great time in the outdoors (sometime with a few to many stick/leaf creations that she wants to keep!) It is great for me as a parent knowing that she is spending and constructive fun time in the outdoors. Alex Ardizzone

Mother of a little Jolly Forester

Max had a wonderful time at Jolly Foresters club. It was the first activity he ever did by himself and although he was anxious at drop off, when I came to collect him he was full of exciting tales from his day, covered in mud and didn’t want to go home. Wood walks, camp fires, marshmallows what’s not to love? The staff are so welcoming and very knowledgable and the activities engaging and adventurous. He can’t wait to go back Emily Montenero

When your heart feels warm it means you are happy. I’m happy because I love being in the forest and jumping in muddy puddles. I’m so happy, I feel like skipping. Layla

GOT A QUESTION?
what age can my child start attending Jolly Foresters?
Our Holiday camps are for ages 4 (reception year) – 11.
What do I need to bring to Holiday Club?
You need to bring a nut free packed lunch and a change of clothes including socks and extra gloves. Children must come to the club already wearing their waterproof clothing and wellie boots in the winter with a fleece layer underneath preferably.

In the summer months they should still bring water proof clothing in but most importantly they should be wearing long sleeves and trousers as we encourage tree climbing, playing in the mud and walking through dense woodland at times.

Do you accept childcare vouchers?
We currently do not accept childcare vouchers.
Do staff hold a DBS certificate?
All staff hold an enhanced DBS certificate .
Is there a first aider on site?
There is always at least 1 first aider on site at all times who is trained in Paediatric first aid as well as outdoor first aid.
What is the ratio of adults to children?
1 adult to 6 children is our ratio.
Can I come with my child on the first session?
Unfortunately, we cannot have any parents stay as it unsettles the other children and also you have to hold a DBS certificate.
are you affiliated with any organisations?
Jolly Foresters is a member of the Out of School Alliance who advise on current legislation and practices. We are also a member of the Forest School association.
